calvin_terrell1

Calvin Terrell, Friday, Chapman University and Saturday, UC Davis

Calvin Terrell is an internationally recognized authority on leadership and personal development. For over a decade, his impact on his listeners has been profound and his life has inspired millions through his “Chicken Soup for the Soul” story in the (now famous) series. Calvin has mastered the art of effective diversity training helping hundreds of schools and organizations to measurably decrease violence, hate speech, and prejudice of all kinds. Poetic and candid, Calvin opens his spirit and that of his listeners as he disarms the powers of intolerance and injustice. His efforts for students are unparalleled and Calvin’s activism has garnered him multiple awards from educational, religious, and civic organizations.

greenbergscott

Scott Greenberg, Saturday, Chapman University

Scott Greenberg always dreamed of working in the movie business. After being accepted to New York University film school on a scholarship, Scott was diagnosed with an advanced state of cancer. Forced to leave school, Scott began a courageous fight for his life. Today, Scott is an established Hollywood screenwriting consultant and one of the youth market’s favorite motivational speakers. His powerful story of courage and survival is both touching and entertaining. Scott shares his insights on how to turn adversity into opportunity and how to embrace each day to the fullest.

albert Albert Mensah, Closing speaker, Chapman University and UC Davis

Albert believes that maintaining the status quo is a poor substitute for accomplishing something of significance.

Albert Mensah grew up in Ghana, one of the poorest countries in West Africa, while fostering a curious dream that earned him ridicule from his peers: Someday he would live in America. After seeing his first movie shown on a makeshift screen in a dirt parking lot, he began his lifelong passion for reading, and eventually received a four-year scholarship to Western Maryland College. Albert’s powerful message of hope and inspiration is based on his own life experience as he shares the practical skills and tools he used to become successful. Albert believes that any person can become more successful if they can conceive a powerful dream that touches the heart of their existence. Albert’s life in Africa and his amazing success since coming to America demonstrates that high achievement always begins with Aiming High in the pursuit of such a dream.

Workshop Presenters!

Two DoSomething.org grant winners will lead a workshop at each of our programs.

sethheadshot Seth Maxwell, Saturday, Chapman University

Seth Maxwell is a $500 grant winner from DoSomething.org. When he learned about what a major issue clean drinking water is, he asked himself “What can one person really do?” With this question and just $70 and 7 friends, he began the Thirst Project. He has not only raised awareness about the Global Water Crisis, he has raised over $300,000 in just over two years to help provide more than 34,000 people with safe, clean water. Seth will be leading a workshop at Chapman University this summer.

picturebrianwong Brian Wong - Saturday, UC Davis

DoSomething.org believes in you. They provide resources and opportunities that empower teens and young people like you to take action on your ideas to improve your communities.

Learn how 14-year-old Brian Wong, winner of DoSomething.org’s $500 grant, is turning his piano notes into dollars for the Alameda County Food Bank. Through sponsorships from family, friends, and small businesses, he has raised over $6000 - enough money for 40 thousand pounds of food! What do you love doing? You’ll have the chance to find out how you can do what you love for a good cause.

erinkrapfngc Erin Krapf,  Saturday, UC Davis
