NTLP Director carries Olympic Torch!
PRESS RELEASES
On January 19, 2002, Laura Hellenthal Wilke, NTLP President, carried the Olympic Torch for the 2002 Winter Olympics in honor of her work for the National Teen Leadership Program. Laura was selected along with 11,500 others in a nationwide selection process that reviewed over 215,000 entrees. The nominating letter was written by 1993 alumni, Noah Smith of Lassen County, a three year alumni and Over-All High Achiever Winner in 1993 and 1994. The theme of this year’s Olympics was “Light the Fire Within” and torchbearers were selected based on their “contribution to community, overcoming adversity and embodiment of the Olympic Spirit.” NTLP’s torch has been burning bright for 10 years and it is fitting that NTLP be represented on behalf of all the alumni that have inspired, motivated and contributed to their peers and their community.
